Who We Are

_MG_1271.jpg

Our Vision

We desire to be a community led by the Spirit in all areas of life. We ask the question, “How do we follow God into fullness of life?”

Our Mission

Equipping believers to walk by the Spirit

Engaging believers in community

Sending out believers to be witnesses in the earth

We Believe

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (Christian) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. - The Apostle’s Creed

We Value

THE PRESENCE OF GOD

At the core of our identity as a body of believers, is that we are carriers of the presence of God. We are called to be vessels that receive from Him and pour out to the world around us. His presence is constantly forming us, constantly speaking to us, constantly empowering and sustaining us. His presence alone allows us to experience the gift of fullness in our lives and to manifest His kingdom rule in the earth.

GOD’S GOODNESS

God is good. At the end of time, this will be seen and known by all. Jesus Christ is the exact representation of what God looks like: a loving and gracious King whose mercy triumphs over judgment. The infinite love of our Father in heaven is seen in the goodness of Christ, and the Spirit testifies to this goodness all the time in every way. It is our invitation in life to discover His goodness that is beneath all of the beauty, truth and love in existence.

OUR VILLAGE

The context that God uses to shape our lives by His Spirit is His community. We are thankful for the family households we grow up in, but we recognize the need for a wider community, a village. In the village, we find strength in numbers and width & depth of the expressions of His love. God never intended for us to live insular, isolated lives. As we walk toward individual wholeness, it’s essential to find interdependence with God’s community in our lives

RHYTHMS FOR A DEEPER LIFE

Our theology has been deeply affected by those who found value in leaving the burdens of this life to know God in a simpler and quieter way. At the core of this way of life is the call to abide in God, living out rhythms of life that reflect the rhythms of Jesus. As we abide longer and longer in the vine, we are pruned and formed to be more and more like Christ. A Deeper Life formed by the Spirit happens in the long journey of learning spiritual disciplines like prayer, silence, reading scripture, and showing up day in and day out to be with Jesus.

GENEROSITY

Christ gave of his time, presence, and ultimately, his very body. We follow his example of generous living by opening our eyes and ears to what the Spirit is directing in each interaction. Whatever the cost, we give.

EUCHARIST

Christ’s final moments before His death were spent breaking bread & drinking wine with His disciples. In this act of communion, He says “Do this in remembrance of me.” When we enter into the holy eucharist, we enter into the death and resurrection of Christ, and we receive His healing and life for our bodies, minds and spirits. We partake of His body and His blood in community, and we remember together all He’s done for us.

LOVING OUR NEIGHBOR

In Jesus’ polarizing response to those experts of the law trying to test him, He simplifies God’s greatest commandments into two: 1) Love God with all your heart, soul & mind, and 2) Love your neighbor as yourself. Our eyes should always be looking outward to the ones around us, present with those who Christ would sit with, not merely the beautiful and easily-loveable. In this act of outward love, we often believe we’re the gift to the lost. But these souls, precious to Jesus, are His gift to us. The fruit of a Deeper Life is connecting with those around us in ever-present love. Christ calls us to a life “set apart,” yet present with the agonies of this world. His presence sustains us.

MYSTERY

God is the God who is intimately available, but infinitely indescribable. For a long time, the church has majored on its explanations and definitions of God. We believe that at the end of our understanding, we find trust in the mystery of God. In celebrating mystery, we enter into the wonder and beauty of who God is and the universe he has created. We encounter Him as one who reveals himself to us as we let go of the need to be able to explain with detail every aspect of who He is. Entering into mystery is vital to our walk with God, and without it, we build thoughts about God in the image of our own lives.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

1 Corinthians 12 tells us that there are different gifts but the same spirit. We believe the church is called to empower people to walk in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is for two reasons: 1) God wants to display the power of His kingdom and His willingness to speak, to heal, to do miracles so that all may encounter the love of God. 2) It is in the recognition of gifts distributed to the body that we learn to depend on each other. We see that every member, every soul, every person carries the grace of God. God desires to give every person even greater gifts so they can be a ministry to the body of Christ and the world. No one has the whole expression of Christ, but in unity, we find a fuller expression of who He is. So we desire the gifts of the Spirit as a community so the fullness of Christ may be expressed within and through us.

Community Overseers

Jordan and Andrea Sutton

As the planters and community overseers of ClearPath for 14 years, we have seen the ups and downs, the growing pains of ministry. But more than ever before, we are committed to leading this group of people to be led by the Spirit in every aspect of life. Without the Spirit’s leading and empowering, we are incapable of anything.

Our desire is that every person in our community would experience the fullness of life that God has provided for them by His Son, Jesus. That they would be a people deeply rooted in the community of God and bursting with the love of Jesus for all those around them, their neighbors and the least of these. As He fills us, we can’t help but overflow with His goodness.

ClearPath has become our home, our village. We have grown as a couple in the incubator of family. We’ve bumped heads, cried tears of pain and tears of joy, questioned ourselves and wrestled with God, but we are better people because of this people. ClearPath has been the biggest blessing of our lives.

Jordan and Andrea have been married for 15 years and live in East Dallas (the best Dallas) with their 3 kids: Grace, Eden & Judah. They love hosting people in their home, dance parties, great coffee, country music, mountain biking, travelling and staring into each others’ eyes (see picture).

ClearPath is more of a family than most people have by blood. It is a group of people who I call my closest friends... we seek God together year after year, wrestle through life's difficult questions, laugh together and encourage each other in life by the Spirit. In the last 14 years in this community, I have been formed and changed more than I could have imagined. I am really grateful for that.

I consider my role to be a great privilege - I simply have the honor of leading people into deep knowledge of God through words and worship. There is nothing more life-changing than when someone knows what the Father is saying to or about them specifically - not just a generic word. My prayer is that every song, word or service is designed in a way that gives people a direct personal connection with the Trinity.

I love the gift and power of story and how it can be so pivotal in reaching different groups of people across different lines. ClearPath has told a story - that living the Jesus life is a beautiful journey experienced best in community - and that story has transcended lines and brought unity in diverse spaces. I am thankful to be a part of developing and curating our story and I look forward to seeing how it touches lives over time.

I am passionate about my role in ministry because I am getting to do exactly what the heart of the Father wants and desires me to do. There is not one person on earth that does not deserve getting the chance to know Him, and I want to do all that I can to be a conduit to bring that flame. The best way I feel I can start a wildfire is working with the next generations to come. My heart leaps when someone just gets it: when they truly experience the love and freedom of the Father. I want to look at the world around me and see a people walking in profound wholeness.

There's an amazing feeling I get when I see our children finally understand what they have been studying, or when I see them act out what they recently discovered in His Word. I love calling out their gifts and talents and encouraging them to use their gifts for God's glory. Truly the love and innocence of a child worshiping our savior with their whole heart brings heaven to earth and I love being a part of it.
